Lab Supervisor (Contract)

Adverum is looking for a Lab Suprvisor to join the Technical Operations (Tech Ops) team at our Redwood City, CA office. As the Lab Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of the laboratory, maintaining equipment, and fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

Position Overview:
You will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our labs. Your responsibilities will encompass procurement, inventory management, equipment coordination, maintenance, and organization to create a safe and efficient workspace. You will collaborate closely with various teams, including Facility, EHS, and Finance, to achieve our operational goals.

This is a 6-month contract role.

What you'll do:

  • Lead bi-weekly lab inspections and maintenance of a safe workplace in compliance with company and EHS regulations, including safely storing chemicals and ensuring proper segregation and storage practices.
  • Lead organization of the Tech Ops workspace to ensure cleanliness, safety, and efficiency.
  • Lead inventory of existing freezers and ongoing maintenance of the inventory system in an electronic database. Lead management of inventory levels of raw materials and supplies to support development timelines, maintaining accurate records and transporting materials as needed.
  • Lead communication with vendors to manage long-lead time items and align procurement with production schedules. Work with Facilities and Tech Ops to support scheduling and executing equipment maintenance and calibration, as well as maintaining accurate records.
  • Work with Facilities to support the coordination of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Work with Finance and SMEs to support preparation of quotes and procurement of capital equipment, obtaining necessary approvals and overseeing installation.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

About you:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or equivalent industry experience.
  • A minimum of 2 to 4 years of industry lab operations experience is required.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to building safe and efficient operations.
  • Must be proactive, co-operative, flexible, and willing to work both independently and in a small team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a knack for maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functional areas and departments.
  • Prior experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, lab management, procurement, or inventory management is a plus.
  • Experience with Benchling is a plus
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and company needs.
  • This role requires the individual to be onsite.
